General information:

Conference administration runs via Conftool. Once registered in Conftool, you will have the options to submit symposium proposals and abstracts for oral presentations, posters and the young investigator award (YIA). The template for abstract submission is provided below.

Abstracts:

Abstracts must be submitted through Conftool by 31 October 2026, 23:59. 

Decision on acceptance will be communicated, at the latest, by 15 December 2026. Once abstracts have been submitted, they cannot be modified.

All abstracts must be submitted in English. Abstracts will be published (as submitted) in the online journal Current Issues in Sport Science (CISS) unless otherwise indicated during the upload process.

Symposia:

Symposia consist of three to four presentations (15-20 min presentation & discussion each). Please submit a brief overview explaining the objective of the symposium (max. 200 words, no references, template for symposia overview, not published in CISS) and three to four separate abstracts (abstracts will be published in CISS unless otherwise indicated). Organizers are encouraged to consider diversity in the composition of their symposia, including gender representation and institutional affiliation of speakers.

When submitting the proposal, please submit only one overview per symposium and add the three (or four) abstracts of each individual contribution in the same submission process (one abstract per page). Individual contributors must not upload their abstracts separately. However, all contributors must register as conference participants.

Oral presentations:

Oral presentations consist of a 10-minute presentation and a 5-minute discussion. Accepted abstracts will be grouped according to theme by the program committee. Some abstracts may, however, need to be assigned to posters. Please use the template for abstract submission.

Poster presentation:

The poster presentation will last approximately 90 minutes. Drinks will be served during the poster sessions. The posters will not be debated. However, first authors should be present at their posters during the first 45 minutes of the poster session for explanations and to answer questions. Please use the template for abstract submission.

Poster awards:

A jury will be tasked with selecting the best posters, with particular emphasis on poster design and clarity of the presentation of key findings. The best posters will be honored with the 4S Poster Award. The winners will be announced during the closing ceremony.

Young Investigator Award (YIA):

Candidates who wish to apply for the young investigator awards (YIA) must submit a more detailed abstract of their research (max. 1'000 words, incl. references). Cumulative works (e.g., cumulative dissertations) are not eligible for the YIA. The top five applicants will present their work orally in the YIA finalists' presentations session (10 minutes presentation & 5 minutes questions from experts).

The winners of the YIA (1st to 3rd placed) will receive a cash prize. The winners will be announced during the closing ceremony.

The applicants must be first author, not have completed their doctoral degree at the time of the conference, not be a previous SGS YIA winner (1st to 3rd place), work for a Swiss institution or be a Swiss citizen.

All YIA abstracts which are not selected for the final round will automatically be reviewed for oral presentations. Accepted applicants will be required to upload a shorter abstract if the author wishes the abstract to be published in CISS. To this end, please use the template for abstract submission.
